An old soul, Jesse has embraced the black art of printmaking and brings new life to the\u00a0craft. So we were not surprised to learn that Jesse has the rare opportunity to apprentice under third generation stone carver, calligrapher, and designer \u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.macfound.org\/fellows\/26\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Benson<\/a> \u00a0at the  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnstevensshop.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">John Stevens Shop <\/a>in Newport, Rhode Island. Lucky for us, Jesse is\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/sixweeksjss.blogspot.com\/2012\/04\/lets-do-this.html\" target=\"_blank\"> blogging <\/a>about his experience, &#8220;Six Weeks in the John Stevens Shop.&#8221; We suggest you give it a read.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Letters carved and outlined by Jesse Marsolais\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.massfolkarts.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Jesse_letters.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jesse&#8217;s\u00a0six-week\u00a0apprenticeship\u00a0is funded by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctheritagearts.org\/index.php?id=61\" target=\"_blank\"> Southern New England Folk &amp; Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program<\/a>.\u00a0 This unique tri-state apprenticeship program allows apprentices to work with master artists across state lines in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
