For these women, learning to draw kolam was part of growing up in Tamil Nadu. Having relocated to New England, they are members of  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmm-usa.org\/index.php\/about-us\" target=\"_blank\">Tamil Makkal Mandram, Inc<\/a>., a community organization that fosters the ongoing practice of Tamil expressive traditions. We are thrilled that they will be joining us in the  <a href=\"http:\/\/lowellfolkfestival.org\/about\/discover\/folk-craft-area\/\" target=\"_blank\">Folk Craft <\/a>area of the  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lowellfolkfestival.org\" target=\"_blank\">Lowell Folk Festival<\/a> this July to demonstrate kolam art. A proper blog post will be coming from MCC intern, Nora Martinez-Proctor, who spearheaded the effort to find these talented artisans.
