She learned at a time when Russia nearly lost the old method of writing icons, due to Soviet restrictions on religious expression. She explains how she came to icon writing, &#8220;. . . My prioress asked if I would learn icons. I started out kind of on my own . . . I found [Ksenia] on the Internet. And she said, &#8216;Well, you really don &#8216;t know what you &#8216;re doing, &#8216; in her just wonderful, diplomatic way. I said, &#8216;No, I don &#8216;t. And I &#8216;ll keep doing that if you don &#8216;t help me.'&#8221; A\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.massculturalcouncil.org\/programs\/apprenticeships.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Traditional Arts Apprenticeship <\/a>awarded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council&#8217;s Folk Arts &amp; Heritage Program was added incentive. Sister Faith spent significant time in the Pokrovsky household working under Ksenia&#8217;s guidance. Ksenia considered Sister Faith one of her best students, &#8220;She has the time to devote to this; she works very hard. &#8221;<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.massfolkarts.org\/index.php\/2017\/03\/apprenticeships-matter\/ksenia_faith_holytrinty-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6097\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6097 size-full\" title=\"The Holy Trinity, Russian Orthodox icon by Sister Faith Riccio, 2003. The world lost a remarkable artist. Fortunately, her technique and artistry lives on in those she mentored.\u00a0We were delighted to learn that Sr. Faith has just published a book,\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.proofpoint.com\/v2\/url?u=http-3A__www.paracletepress.com__Products_8319_icons.aspx&amp;d=DwMFaQ&amp;c=lDF7oMaPKXpkYvev9V-fVahWL0QWnGCCAfCDz1Bns_w&amp;r=CVxbcWS4mCxug6JpM5dntI4gIxMdz24LkLCbNWeDnz0&amp;m=_ANQHBwoTecA1U2o23ABu0L_PRh5rLUAF7h7-okrZjc&amp;s=kGOi66Pd1S62g5qcPnQDis0cvZZVYThMqQ72f6z8jQY&amp;e=\">Icons: The Essential Collection<\/a>. A large collection of her icons are currently on display at the\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.proofpoint.com\/v2\/url?u=http-3A__www.churchofthetransfiguration.org_&amp;d=DwMFaQ&amp;c=lDF7oMaPKXpkYvev9V-fVahWL0QWnGCCAfCDz1Bns_w&amp;r=CVxbcWS4mCxug6JpM5dntI4gIxMdz24LkLCbNWeDnz0&amp;m=_ANQHBwoTecA1U2o23ABu0L_PRh5rLUAF7h7-okrZjc&amp;s=bD0xyHAn1fEC5CTyJLjUhArDkVEMHlYeurv9PiFzkT8&amp;e=\">Church of the Transfiguration<\/a>, which includes installations of mosaics, true fresco, bronze and glass.
